Parent support advisor
My name is Anita Ahia.
I am the New (PSA) Parent Support Advisor / Practioner at Robert Clack School.
I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself to you.
I work here full time on both sites. I work at the Lower site on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays and the upper site on Monday and Friday. I am employed by a company called SHS (School Home Support) which is a national charity which supports children, parents and carers.
School Home Support’s main aim is to bridge the gap between children’s school and their families’ homes in order for them to get the most from their lives in school and so their families know and understand what is going on in school. Some of the area’s I work in are:
- Home Visits to Parents / Families
- Help pupils fitting into school
- Advice on housing and money worries
- Advice on benefit and support
- Maintaining good attendance / improving attendance
- Running coffee mornings for parents /carers
- Linking families to courses, training and volunteering which could lead to employment
- Bereavement/ Grief / Loss
- Supporting you on appointments where necessary
- Sign posting you to relevant services
- Family relationships
I would like to say that I am as much here for you as parents to support you and meet your needs just as I am for your children.
I offer a strictly confidential service in a safe and friendly environment.
If you do have concerns about any issues please contact your Son or Daughter’s Head of year and they will assess the situation and refer on to me if necessary.
I look forward to meeting you in the near future.

"Learner's spiritual, moral and social development is very good. Their characters and personalities develop well in school and their confidence and determination are often very striking. Nevertheless, they remain sensitive and aware and many are becoming politically astute." OfSTED- HMI June 2004
