Curriculum
Robert Clack prides itself on the broad and balanced curriculum it offers its students. Our curriculum is based around the core subjects of English, Mathematics and Science reflecting our specialist schools status. We believe in monitoring the progress of our students and providing them with quality feedback that allows them to set clear and relevant targets to be successful in their subjects. During the year pupils complete a modular curriculum where pupils complete assessments at the end of each project. Four times a year pupil's progress is reviewed centrally so that we can ensure that all pupils' progress is tracked centrally. Robert Clack believes that setting by ability is the fairest and most efficient way of grouping students. We operate a flexible system regarding 'setting' and make termly reviews to ensure students are best placed to progress at the various key stages. Modular Curriculum
Pupils in years 7, 8 and 9 will study modules of work in each subject and there are half termly tests in English, Maths, Science, History, Geography and Modern Foreign Languages, all other subjects will test termly. Each department has a central record sheet and results are passed on to administration for recording onto a central database. All results are recorded at National Curriculum levels. Absentees will sit assessments where possible at the teacher's discretion. Many departments also keep a teacher assessment record, which together with the modular assessment results would form a pupil profile at the end of Key Stage 3.
The curriculum is outstanding and meets the needs of students extremely well. A wide range of vocational courses and work-related opportunities at Key Stage 4 offer helpful pathways into training and employment. Provision for personal, health, social and citizenship education is excellent and supports students' personal development successfully as well as providing exciting opportunities for developing enterprise and work-related skills.
