Rivers of the World Project

Pupils at Robert Clack have been working with the Thames Festival and Carlito School in Sao Paolo, Brazil, on an art project about the rivers Tiete and Thames. The work of pupils from both schools was displayed on the South Bank in London, right next to Tower Bridge. The work is also displayed in the Oxo Gallery. Year 9 pupils from Robert Clack visited their work and also the Tate Modern Gallery and the Design Museum. They were fantastic representatives of the school and have had their work displayed to huge numbers of the public in one of the biggest cultural centres of London – what an excellent achievement!

Pupils follow a structured mixed media course that explores a wide range of skills, techniques and processes. The core element running throughout all three years is that of drawing, painting, 3D, printmaking and investigation into artists, designers and cultures.

In preparation for GCSE Art and Design, pupils are encouraged to support class work  by exploring  their own ideas.

KEY STAGE 4

GCSE Art and Design is a very popular option at the Upper School.

Currently the Department offers Fine Art and 3D Theatre Design as Art and Design options. Examination board OCR .

GCSE Art and Design is a two year course during which pupils produce two units of coursework accounting for 60% of the final grade.  The terminal examination involves six weeks preparation for the timed test and accounts for the remaining 40% of marks.  Throughout the course pupils keep a work journal in the form of a sketch book. Pupils have the opportunity to work with different materials to create images.

The department has the use of two spacious, purpose-built classrooms. These include two painting and drawing rooms which are well equipped. Using these facilities, pupils are able to tackle ambitious projects in media ranging from printmaking and ceramics to computer/digital manipulation and animation.
