JULY 2010: LATEST NEWSFifteen ex-Robert Clack students who are currently at University returned to school for the annual ACE DAY on Wednesday the 14th of July and acted as role models for our current Year 9 students to raise their aspirations and realise the rewards a higher education can bring to their professional and personal lives. The University of East London also sent seven of their staff to assist us with various Higher Education presentations during the course of the day. These days have a big impact on Robert Clack School: last year 79 students left our 6th form to go on to University and in 2010 just over 100 of them have been offered places in Higher education/University institutions all over the United Kingdom.

Experience has shown that people who have achieved success and fulfilment in their career, are those who have positively 'owned' their career path at an early stage and have made it happen.
The Careers Department's aims and associated programme of activities is geared to supporting, encouraging and guiding our young people into assuming personal responsibility for their future i.e. owning their career.
Pupils are encouraged to:
- Realistically evaluate their strengths and weaknesses, identify areas of personal development.
- Gain an understanding of what personal qualities employers are looking for.
- Explore their careers aspirations and test their individual suitability via computer based career assessment software.
- Gain experience of the work place environment through a period of Work Experience.
- Gain practical job search skills including CV writing and Interview Techniques.
- Formulate a career strategy.
The Department delivers a comprehensive programme of activities, which includes presentations by representatives from successful companies, and is fully supported an extensive careers library, together with on-demand counselling and guidance from the Departmental staff.
A strong partnership has been developed with 'Business in the Community'. This partnership enables our pupils to witness first hand top class business leaders in action.
The curriculum is outstanding and meets the needs of students extremely well. A wide range of vocational courses and work-related opportunities at Key Stage 4 offer helpful pathways into training and employment. Provision for personal, health, social and citizenship education is excellent and supports students' personal development successfully as well as providing exciting opportunities for developing enterprise and work-related skills.
