Is your child entitled to Free School Meals?
A number of families do not realise that they are entitled to claim free school meals for their child(ren). If you are receiving the following benefits you WILL be eligible to make a claim:
- Child Benefit (proof: child benefit letter or recent bank statement)
Plus one of the following:
- Income support (proof: recent Job Centre Plus letter)
- Income based job seekers allowance (proof: recent Job Centre Plus letter)
- Child Tax Credit (proof: award notice (TC602) from the HM Revenue and Customs)
- Guaranteed part of Pension Credit (proof: Award notice M1000)
You need to complete an application form (enclosed) and send it to the following address:

With your completed application form you must include proof, not more than 3 months old, that you are receiving these benefits. If you don't have copies of the proof required, you can ask Job Centre Plus to complete the reverse side of the application form before you send it to us.
