Pastoral Care - Year 11

Over the next few months Year 11 pupils will be sitting their final GCSE exams. Your child’s achievements this year will influence what options are available to them at the end of Year 11. We will strive to ensure that every pupil is equipped with the knowledge, skills and qualifications they need to go directly into employment, to gain a college place, to find an apprenticeship or to remain at our 6th Form for further study.

In the competitive world we live in, the ability of your child to succeed will depend on their interpersonal skills and, crucially, on the GCSE and BTEC results they achieve this year.

Throughout year 10 the pupils have sat many modular GCSE exams and completed coursework, controlled assessments and BTEC assignments. Although all of these will count towards their final grade, the bulk of the work is still to be done.

On the subject of exams, I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate the Year 10 pupils on some excellent modular GCSE exam results in Maths, Science, History, Psychology, Sociology, Heath and Social Care, Graphic Products and Product Design.

I would also like to congratulate the sports teams for some fantastic achievements during year 10. The year group is also full of talented signers, musicians and dancers and I look forward to the year group excelling not only in the classroom but in sport and in the performing arts.

I have every faith in the maturity, dedication and commitment of every member of the year group to fulfil their potential and succeed in their final year at Robert Clack High School.

If you would like to discuss your child’s progress, please feel free to contact me.

Care, guidance and support are outstanding. Students are positive about the effective pastoral system that contributes to the 'family-like' community in the school. Students feel safe in school, supported by the high levels of supervision throughout the day. There are outstanding links with local authority and other external agencies so that vulnerable students including looked after children are well cared for. Careers advice and support are excellent and ensure that students are well informed about the options available to them for the next stage of education and working life. Systematic whole-school procedures rigorously check on students' academic progress. Day-to-day guidance to students on how to improve their performance is very effective.
