Pastoral Care - Year 13
Message from the Head of 6th Form: Mr Rissbrook
Year 13 are nearing the end of their time at Robert Clack School and have been working for a long while now on the next steps they will take in life. This year, the UCAS application process was a great success with a record number of our sixth formers applying to University and a number already receiving strong offers. This is indicative of a sixth form environment that encourages high expectations of students and supports excellent learning opportunities.
Those students who have not chosen to apply to University are currently being invited to careers interviews with the Connexions service run here at Robert Clack. Our Connexions interviewers provide excellent guidance to students and will ensure that any decisions they make regarding their journey beyond sixth form are well informed.
Year 13 are now focusing on the importance of passing their final A-level exams. There is a sense of urgency amongst the student body as each student strives to achieve at least their target grade. With motivation and extensive revision, we are sure this will be another set of results to celebrate.
Care, guidance and support are outstanding. Students are positive about the effective pastoral system that contributes to the 'family-like' community in the school. Students feel safe in school, supported by the high levels of supervision throughout the day. There are outstanding links with local authority and other external agencies so that vulnerable students including looked after children are well cared for. Careers advice and support are excellent and ensure that students are well informed about the options available to them for the next stage of education and working life. Systematic whole-school procedures rigorously check on students' academic progress. Day-to-day guidance to students on how to improve their performance is very effective.
