Pastoral Care - Year 7

Message from the Head of Year

Hello, I am Miss Davies, the year 7 Learning Community Team Leader.

I am very pleased to say that the year 7’s have settled extremely well and have made an excellent start to their time at Robert Clack.

The transition from primary school to secondary school is a challenging step to take and I am delighted with the way that the pupils have risen to the challenge. They have been exceptionally mature and have adjusted well to their new surroundings. I am also very grateful to the parents and guardians who have equipped the children with the necessary uniform, stationary and attitude which has made their transition as smooth and as successful as possible.

The teachers at Robert Clack work really hard to ensure that there are numerous extra-curricular activities open to pupils and pupils will have the opportunity to attend clubs such as photography club, foreign film club, basketball club, dance club and rugby club to name just a few. I do hope that all pupils will be encouraged to join these clubs as they are a fundamental part of school life.

If the pupils do take part in the huge variety of activities and take advantage of our outstanding teaching and learning, they will flourish at Robert Clack and develop into well-rounded and happy individuals.

I greatly look forward to meeting you all throughout the course of the academic year.

Transition

Care, guidance and support are outstanding. Students are positive about the effective pastoral system that contributes to the 'family-like' community in the school. Students feel safe in school, supported by the high levels of supervision throughout the day. There are outstanding links with local authority and other external agencies so that vulnerable students including looked after children are well cared for. Careers advice and support are excellent and ensure that students are well informed about the options available to them for the next stage of education and working life. Systematic whole-school procedures rigorously check on students' academic progress. Day-to-day guidance to students on how to improve their performance is very effective.
