Last half term, a number of Year 13 students created a feature length film about the history of Valence House and its links to the abolitionist movement, "When Wilberforce Came to Tea". They worked closely with a local historian as well as a full production team to help write, rehearse and shoot the film on location at the manor. This has subsequently been made into a film that will be used as an education tool for schools across the borough in learning about local history..
The film had a premier first-edit screening in October as part of Black History Month and it will also be available to watch both in the museum cinema at Valence House as well as via the museum website.
The students who took part were a credit to the school and demonstrated outstanding attitude, effort and practice throughout the process and we are very proud of the final film.
