This summer term the Year 10 Debate and Sociology pupils had the opportunity to attend the annual Global Classrooms conference for Model UN.
This took place over two days in Mulberry School who are known for holding the largest MUN programme for state secondary schools and international schools in the UK.
At these professional conferences, students play the role of ambassadors in simulations of UN committees. The event had a warm, supportive atmosphere and promoted co-operation, leadership, public speaking skills and confidence in global citizenship.
GCLMUN conferences consist of several student-led committees debating different topics, with between twenty-five and thirty countries in each. This year our school represented Canada and Brazil. Sarah in Year 11 won an honourable mention for the committee of UNHCR 2 which ensured the safety of asylum seekers.
Thank you very much for Mulberry School for hosting us and we look forward to the winter MUN!
